Proxy Protocols at ZoogProxy
We support major Proxy protocols on our servers. Even though IKEv2 and OpenProxy protocols are our recommendations, you can configure our Proxy to work with other protocols. We give you a flexible solution, and it’s up to you which protocol to rely on.
A Proxy protocol is a set of rules or instructions that determine how data routes between your device and the Proxy server. Proxy providers rely on protocols to ensure a stable and secure connection. Every Proxy protocol has its own pros and cons when it comes to speed, security, and stability.
The latest Proxy protocol in the industry succeeds IKEv1, supported on Windows, , and Mac OS. Excellent for both performance and security. We highly recommend using this protocol wherever possible. Here is a short overview of IKEv2:

OpenProxy is the most popular and among the easiest Proxy protocols to use, supported on a wide range of devices. We recommend using its UDP protocol for streaming and downloading. At the same time, TCP works best when you need additional, especially when connected to public Wi-Fi networks. OpenProxy is available across our desktop and Android apps out-of-the-box. Here is a short overview of OpenProxy:
- Speed on UDP is good, not so good on TCP - 4/5

L2TP/IPsec is easy to setup and is supported on a wide variety of devices. It is more secure than PPTP but can be slower. Here is a short overview of L2TP/IPSec:

- Overall a good alternative for IKev2 & OpenProxy - 3/5.
PPTP is also easy to setup and is supported on a wide variety of devices. It's a great way to bypass geo-restrictions. Here is a short overview of PPTP:

- Overall acceptable alternative to bypass geo-blocks - 2/5
It depends on your needs. If you are serious about security, we recommend going with OpenProxy (TCP). If you want to achieve the best speeds possible, IKEv2 and OpenProxy (UDP) are the best solutions. Anyway, IKEv2 and OpenProxy have never been compromised yet.
